Transportation & Getting Around

Pittsburgh has become an easier city to navigate. Students studying on the Oakland campus have the convenience of several modes of transportation, in addition to the Port Authority buses as well as access to ride-sharing applications. For the various options, see below.

Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)

The Pittsburgh International Airport is approximately a 30-minute car ride away from the Pittsburgh campus.

Mobile Devices

For safety reasons, incoming students are encouraged to purchase local cellular service. Once a local phone number has been obtained, incoming students should update their contact information into their Pitt accounts. Pitt students may purchase cell phones at a discounted rate. See instructions for individual suppliers, such as AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile, and Verizon.

University Store

Incoming students may purchase textbooks, supplies, and gifts at the University Store on Fifth. The store works directly with Pitt instructors to provide the necessary textbooks and other course materials. Instead of purchasing the textbooks, students also have the option of renting the textbooks. When making purchases, students should remember to present the Panther Card for a small discount.
